Vietnamese honey market

Vietnamese honey export markets:

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first nine months of 2022, Vietnam’s honey industry is estimated to export nearly 24,000 tons. This small creature has brought in a trade value of around 41 million USD for businesses, in which the US is the largest market. Despite the fact that the US Department of Commerce imposed anti-dumping duties on Vietnamese honey ranging from 58.74 to 61.27%, Vietnam’s honey exports to the US still reached 11,000 tons, accounting for 44.5% of Vietnam’s export market share in the first nine months of 2022. Vietnamese honey has been exported to 12 countries and territories. The annual honey production reaches an average of 57,000 tons, with 90% consumed through export channels.

Honey exports to the EU reached 6,600 tons, accounting for 27-28%; markets such as Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan accounted for 19%.

Honey export turnover ranges from 70-100 million USD per year. In which, the US market accounts for about 95% of Vietnam’s honey export turnover. Honey exported to the US must meet strict standards of the True Source Honey certification system (certification of honey origin), NSF International organization (evaluating, monitoring, and certifying agency for US importers) and quality standards of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The class of Vietnamese Honey

Vietnamese honey has had to make great efforts in exporting for a long time to standardize the quality of honey to meet the extremely strict standards of regulators in the United States. However, with the high tax rates of this market, Vietnamese honey is facing disadvantages in maintaining the market in this country.
